The kiss. Episode of Youth, better known as The Kiss, is an oil on canvas by the Italian painter Francesco Hayez, made in 1859 and preserved in the Pinacoteca di Brera, in Milán.La scene, set in a medieval context, depicts two young lovers kissing. Because of the enormous burden Emotive, refined scenography and great civil value (the canvas is full of risorgimental nuances, symbolizing patriotic love and the fight against the foreigner), the work is considered the manifesto of Italian romantic art. For this reason, the work obtained a great popular success, so much so that there are several versions, all by Hayez.
